infoDART Data Definitions

The following definitions represent the various search key types available within
the infoDART application. When performing a query with the infoDART, a search key
type must be specified via the Search-Bar, system tray
icon menu or from the Hot-Key popup menu.
Document Number
Identification code for a Specification or Standards document (ANSI, IEEE, NASA
document, etc.).
Sample value: ANSI-B18.22M (Metric Plain Washer)
NIIN (National Item Identification Number)
The second of two main parts of the National Stock Number. (See NSN.)
A NIIN is unique and no two items have the same NIIN. An item can
be tracked in technical files using just the NIIN. Contract files require
the full NSN to track information.

NSN (National Stock Number)
A government tracking number consisting of a Federal Stock Class (FSC) and a
National Item Identification Number (NIIN). The number is used to identify the
required item and is associated with all buys related to that
item. More than one part number may be associated with an NSN however all parts
associated will have to be the same in fit, form and function. A National Stock
number breaks down as follows: 6150-00-234-5967 61= FSG 6150=FSC 00=Country
assigning the NSN 234-5967=serial number 00-234-5967=NIIN

Part Number
Government or commercial part identification code.
Sample value: 4P2995 (Injector Assembly)
CAGE Code (Contractor and Government Entity Code)
A CAGE code is a five-digit number assigned to a company to represent the
company's physical address. It is used for mailing, payments and
administrative records. A vendor cannot do business without a CAGE code.

Vendor Name
Actual name of vendor or company
APL (U.S. Navy Allowance Parts List)
The Navy's General Distribution APL (Allowance Parts List) cross-references part
numbers, NSNs and CAGE Codes to APLs. Obtained from the Navy Ships Parts Control
Center (SPCC), this database shows top-down, bottom-up relationships between all
parts in the system. The database includes Sections A (FLSIP .25-APL and
MODFLSIP-APL and .5 APL), B (electronic or MAPL) and C (AEL).
